Interesting lighting, and such great depth of colors and detail. His face is... it's just amazing how varied yet complete it all is; how it all wraps together. And the increased blues in the shadows makes for an interesting appearance.
Something seems off though... Just a very little, miniscule thing, which I'm sure only I would notice. There's almost an aura around his face, by which I mean the overall green seems a lighter, much more consistent shade than the rest of the background, which has more blue and darker green splashed about. (I'm disregarding the brown, which I think is the color of the paper?
I always seem to notice incredibly minor stuff like that.

Hey, thanks for the comment. It was a fun color study. And about the "aura" - you notice everything! Please keep letting me know when you see stuff like this.
My mistake was doing the roo first and the background second. Pastels are rough. I couldn't get into the areas near the roo very heavily and still keep the loose appearance of the background. Plus, I used big pastel chunks that are blunt. So I just didn't try too hard.
And yes, the paper is brown!

I really like this. The colours you used are very bright, but that's one of the things that makes this drawing look so good.
I love how you used blue and green on the kangaroo's fur; gives it a lot of depth. And the texture of the paper gives it a nice touch too. Lovely!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
